Dr. A.Q.M. Reza performed atrial septal defect (ASD) device closure on a 6 year old boy at Apollo Heart centre
Dr. A.Q.M. Reza, Senior Cardiology Consultant of Apollo Heart Centre performed atrial septal defect (ASD) device closure on a 6 year old boy on 6th May 2013. He is the youngest among our ASD device patient pool. An atrial septal defect is a birth defect of the heart in which there is a hole in the wall (septum) that divides the upper chambers of the heart (atria). An atrial septal defect (ASD) is one type of congenital heart defect, usually which needs open heart surgery, but in some cases using ASD device in cathlab, the defect can be treated. The boy is absolutely okay and fit to go home.

Apollo Hospitals Dhaka signed agreement with RAK Ceramics Bangladesh Limited
Apollo Hospitals Dhaka, the first & only JCI accredited tertiary care hospital of the country recently signed a corporate agreement with RAK Ceramics Bangladesh Limited to provide priority corporate benefits and medical services for their employees and dependents. General Manager-Business Development of Apollo Hospitals Dhaka, Dr. Shagufa Anwar and General Manager- HR & Admin of RAK Ceramics, Mr. Mahbubur Rahman signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations. In this occasion Dr. Shagufa Anwar said Apollo will continue to provide premium services to corporate clients to increase the satisfied patient pool of the hospitals. Apollo Hospitals Dhaka introduces R-TPA therapy to manage Acute Ischaemic Stroke from May, 2013
Apollo Hospitals Dhaka has introduced R-TPA therapy for Acute Ischaemic Stroke patients in May 2013. R-TPA or Recombinant Tissue Plasminogen Activator therapy is applied to the patients with Acute Ischaemic Stroke. This therapy helps to dissolve blood clots to restore blood flow to a blocked artery. The medicine works best if it is given right away after stroke symptoms begin. R-TPA therapy provides substantial results in speeding up recovery from stroke and lowers the chances of having a permanent disability if applied within the first 2.5 hours. This therapy is performed under the close supervision of Neurology Department of Apollo Hospitals Dhaka. This service is offered daily from 8 am to 8pm.
Patient or Patients attendant should look for sign of stroke and report to Apollo Hospitals Dhaka ER within first 2.5 hours of onset of stroke.

AHD supports the victims of Savar Tragedy with its Emergency Medical Team
Our Emergency Medical Team comprising of Doctors, Nurses, Paramedics, PCAs & Blood Bank Technicians gave continuous support to the building collapse victims. They carried victims to different local near hospitals in our life support equipped ambulances. Apollo doctor, nurses and paramedics gave immediate treatments, IV medicine support and blood transfusion to the injured victims. AHD Blood Bank donated hundreds of bags of blood to local hospitals and CMH for the injured workers. Further, as referred by CMH, we have admitted critical patients in AHD to give world class tertiary care. Our support and medical care will continue for the victims. Apollo Hospitals Dhaka organized a Health Care Awareness Program at Li & Fung Limited on 18 April 2013

With the view to increase health care awareness and enrich level of knowledge in basic health care, Apollo Hospitals Dhaka organized a Health Care Awareness Program on April 18, 2013 for the employees of Li & Fung Limited. Dr. Md. Mohiuddin Araf, Coordinator & Consultant, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation delivered health talk on "Symptoms and Prevention of Back Pain". He provided guidelines to manage healthy life and on the prevention of different Back Pain. This health talk was arranged as a part of regular CSR activity of Apollo Hospitals Dhaka to assist in ensuring healthy lifestyle practices of its corporate clients. The program was followed by an interactive question-answer session.
